to be fair
the gop did try to stop him. the entire primary was the gop trying to stop trump. the gop underestimated him, the gop failed and the gop is now, as boehner said, asleep somewhere. the dems thought they were handed an easy victory, and they too underestimated him. his supporters are NOT typically GOP supporters, that's why. protectionist flower of paradise are always, except for trump, on the left, for example. so it was a "weird amorphous body of people" that ended up voting him in power, remember? i was telling ya'll it was the rust belt, and look what happened, a bunch of opiate addicts voted a moron (that's a medical term, not an insult) into the presidency. now, because of decades of inflating the presidency with power we're left unable to stop this prepubescent 70 year old from wrecking our international relations. there's plenty of blame to go around everywhere.
also though many in the GOP voted for him simply because 1. he wasn't hillary and 2. we have too much importance on supreme court appointments, which they felt more important than any other concern
