So far it looks like its actually going to wind up cheaper than they'd projected. Until we've had it up and running for a few years, I'm not going to form a conclusion about the cost.
The reason the GOP is so terrified of this thing is that they're worried its going to work out OK, and so of course they wind up looking like tools for opposing it.
If they really believed it was going to be a disaster, they'd put up a lot less resistance and sit back and watch the Dems burn themselves.
