Quite a few competitors on the U.S and U.K teams are combat vet's who have taken up various disabled sports as therapy after having their legs blow off by I.E.D's.
To me that's a much better story than "oh yeah she's pretty much ran all the time since she was a kid".
For whatever reason though, the U.S funding for your Paralympic team is pretty much the inverse of your Olympic team. That is to say, very little money.
