As Our Infrastructure Crumbles, Gov't Does Nothing

Another perfect example of how the U.S. has this bizarre habit of ignoring history and most disturbingly, not learning from it.

Oh wow, another phony emergency brought to you by big government spenders. Let's ignore the fact that the US spends more per GDP(3.3) than all of the EU(3.1) on infrastructure. Let's also ignore the fact that the federal government takes in over 20 billion for the highway trust fund yearly, and it's still faces being insolvent. Guess billions of dollars isn't enough.


So let's pretend that debt and deficits don't matter, while we're at it lets pretend that plucking funny money from thin air has no consequences, I'll ask how much do we need for infrastructure building and maintenance? Trillions, gazillions, to infinity?

Also, the US is something like 3x as large as Western Europe. Yet, we only spend <10% more on infrastructure? Seems like we should spend a lot more.

So the over 20 billion taken every year for our highways isn't enough to meet our infrastructure maintenance needs, got it. Thanks for the typical knee jerk reaction of "spend more!!!". I guess "spend smarter" is a lost arcane notion.
