between 2001 and 2011 ND added 67,224 jobs. of those 3,683 were stem related, for an average of 0.9 jobs/day. from 2010 to 2012 this number rose, to roughly 1900 per year. but no where is anyone talking about CREATING 200 - 400 JOBS A DAY. are you INSANE? have you looked at a map in your life?? The entire state of north dakota has a population of 723,393. in 2007 it was at 657,569. even if all of them went to STEM jobs over that period you're saying that the population between then and 2013 would have raised mroe than the entire popualtion of the state is currently. north dakota would have going on 2 million people in it today if what you said was true.
but of course, it's not.
what it is saying is that there are roughly 300 vacancies a day. they have a labor shortage because north dakota is awful and no one wants to live there. high speed internet apparently isn't the draw they hoped.
look at this. scroll to the end. what is the number one paying STEM Job?
http://www.usinnovation.org/state/pdf_c ... Dakota.pdfthat's right, drilling baby. the reason why they got so many is because of OIL TUBES NOT INTERNET ONES
and the biggest contractors for such jobs other than oil is jsut a bunch of defense stuff. it's all government work. thats not driving anything. it's also saying they'll continue to need more people. so it looks like all that money is really paying off?
