All the welfare programs, including unemployment were supposed to be temporary. However, they have turned into a profession/lifestyle. And that lifestyle is the fastest growing one we have. Most of the immigrants of the 1800s and early 1900s did not have the luxury of a welfare system upon arrival. Today, that lifeline is pretty much their first stop. Well, the ones that don't arrive with a fat portfolio anyway.
The hardest part of doing nothing is knowing when your done.
