Huckabee's schtick is to cover his whole fundy/tea party/arch-conservative ideology with a thick "Aw, shucks!" sauce so you don't think he's as scary as he is.
Yeah he'll disagree with a smile on his face, but that's where he's at. Decent, small-town, God-fearing Christian folk in the ROC are under attack from big city, liberal, educated elites on the coasts and this country not only needs to be recaptured from them but it needs more religion. And guns. His book is called God, Guns, Grits & Gravy.
Here's one Amazon reviewer summing up his thoughts on the book:
Huckabee’s simplistic premise is that the United States consists of two types of people, the Bubbas who are decent God-fearing Bible-believing Christians, and the people in Bubbleville who are crude, overeducated know-it-alls who live in the cities of NYC, Hollywood, and DC. Huckabee ideas would be laughable if they weren’t so dangerous. The WHOLE premise of the book is to stereotype America into Bubbaville and Bubbleville. Practice what you preach Huckabee. You don’t like it when you are stereotyped because of where you come from, so don’t do it to other people. Its hypocritical. The decent way to fight against stereotyping people is not to turn around and do it yourself. By the way, a significant portion of people in Bubbaville vote for Democrats and live in cities. For example, 37% of the people of Arkansas voted for Obama in 2012. I guess those people don’t count as real.
He's simply recasting the whole left/right, red/blue, liberal/conservative false choice under a new label: Bubbaville/Bubbleville.
And guess what? One is good, and one is evil.
