Well, the fact that American troops in Iraq deserved to be attacked is a pretty huge difference. Afghanistan was a legitimate act of self-defense, and if I'm not mistaken, Iran offered their assistance in that mission.
Why sub out? Because Sunnis are f**k crazy and Shiites are drastically less crazy.
