It's a changing paradigm. Nationalism is eroding as a valid concept, and the inherent honor in military service is eroding with it. I give my full respect to vets who I believe for whatever reason joined for the right reasons, fought according to the rough hewn rules of war, and would appreciate recognition for it.
The kids that go to Iraq because Walmart fired them for misc transgression and they can't think of anything else to do... not really respect worthy, and not going to end well.
