Both valid points but he's brilliant at marketing his brand and he did turn a lot of money into even more money, which I admire. Yes he used his father's connections and some shady benefits thereof but there's no doubt he's talented, in one way or another. But that doesn't mean he's intellectual or, more importantly, intellectually curious.

Politicians don't need to be "smart" but they do need to be strategic and Trump is neither. He got lucky, this was the moment people were super pissed because Obama promised hope and change and after eight years of financial crisis and decades of growing inequality couldn't deliver either. Obama's got a great personality but flaccid policies.
More than stupid decisions like those made by Bush, morbidly curious to see where Trump's impulsivity takes the US. Business might be reactive to marketing cycles, but planning for the future of the entire society is a whole nother beast.
