I think the biggest problem with rioting is the entire concept of protest in this country, just like a lot of other unusually emotional actions, have been utterly consumed by media influence. People watch political debates on tv and assume that real communication is being made about important issues, so they don't have to personally bother with it. And then when they find out that nothing's been done by the people they assume are the "political types", they aren't deciding for themselves "well we've tried talking to them for 10 years and they don't pay attention. So they'll pay attention to this."
They're saying " f**k THE POLICE, BREAK SHIT." Like they've seen on a bunch of movies they watched.
They have no internal commentary, no backstory, no meaning behind their actions. They're using media hype as an excuse to get angry, regardless of the validity of the reason, and so their actions are brittle, overly done, short-lived, and not enough people take them seriously.
