Only in the short term.
Once all the government leeches die off because they can't afford insanely priced medical services, there will be less people, but the same amount of money. Therefore we will all have more money.

I find it amazing that people actually think the most of the unemployed enjoy being unemployed and on gov't welfare. As if it's some kind of awesome lifestyle.

snideness aside there is a problem in our society in terms of an entitlement underclass, people just aren't moving up like they used to. I can't think of any short term solutions to this issue though...
