I think the Stark family values of execution need to come into effect. Only the victims family ought to be able to carry out the execution. If you can't do it yourself, if you have to make some other poor guy do it, than it isn't worth doing. I think murder by the state is an atrocious, barbaric practice, but I am willing to admit there is some element of justice when the victims take action themselves.

The choice of method should be given to the prisoner, and I think guillotines, firing squad or lethal injection is fine... So long as the person dropping the blade, pulling the trigger or injecting the poison is a family member or other directly aggrieved party. If they want to travel down the road of executing a detained prisoner, that is on them.

It's amazing the amount of debate that has been generated over how to properly get to killin' convicts here but so little given to things like:

a) How many innocents have been executed
b) How many innocents sit on death row
c) How often exculpatory evidence has been suppressed to get a death conviction and then kept buried
d) How the death penalty has been an absolute failure as a deterrent, which is how it's most often justified--as a deterrent
e) What the cost is--I mean literally the monetary cost to taxpayers vs. life sentences
