I agree we need to respect parents who have careers but also have responsibilities to their family. That said, this article mentions issues like an office happy hour that the parent can't make cause they have to take care of their kids. A bit dramatic, no? Employers should recognize that parents can be valuable contributors to the organization without having to be there 24/7 (shit, unless you're on some very high level shit pretty much everyone should be able to have a home life and still be considered valuable at work). That said, if you can't make happy hour cause you gotta go pick up the kids what do you want the rest of your colleagues to do? It's happy hour, it's 5pm. Should everyone go out at noon in the middle of the work day and knock back a few brews so your kids schedule doesn't conflict? And by the way, it's drinks. It's extra ciriculur activity, not part of the job. Yeah those things are good for building relationships but still that's not your jobs problem, that's your own business.
go ahead. keep screaming "Shut The f**k Up " at me. it only makes my opinions Worse
