Well I can say what my pet peeves with the NRA are:

I would think no-brainers like restricting gun sales to mentally ill people, people on the terror watch list or gee: closing gun show loopholes would be no-brainers even if you are Mr. Bigtime Gun Owner.

But nooooo...

And that's my problem with these absolutists.

It's not that I'm in on Obama's trojan horse plan to make the U.S. a nazi/Stalinist tyranny state and it all starts when he takes away all your guns.

the NRA is nothing more than a lobby for gun manufacturers. they ceased caring about the rights of gun owners or the responsible ownership of guns a long time ago. that and they're part of the cabal of organizations that use fear to scare "real americans" into voting for the guys that only care about, you guessed it, corporations like gun manufacturers.

this is a fun cartoon that, i think, sums up the idiocy of the NRA.

I kind of agree with that now. Especially when I found out their biggest contributors weren't grass roots members but... you guessed it.

Because in instances like this you have to ask: cui bono?

Who benefits most from flooding the country with every type of firearm/ammunition when it's not necessary?

Those who profit off it.

That's why there can't be talk of ANY restrictions because that would just cut into their bottom line.

not every crime is the same. a kid stealing your lawn furniture and a guy breaking into your house, fighting you, and stealing a fistful of your wifes jewelry are not the same.

Here's one: how about somebody breaking into somebody else's unoccupied house?

Remember that guy in Texas a while back who called 911 when he saw two teens breaking into the neighbors? Even though cops told him to stand down, he went out and shot the two teens to death.

Was that really necessary?
