as a white, affluent, suburban, midwestern male, yes, i did not approve of the violence. and it pissed me off when people were justifying it by saying things like "if you think property matters more than human life, you're part of the problem". no, i do think human life is important, and i'm all for reforms of police. however, i also think we can't have riots, as that clearly detracts from the messaging, not to mention highly dangerous. the day before the entire national guard of minnesota was mobilized to put down the rioting things were quite scary as it had spiraled out of control
at least some of the problems were caused by known white supremacists. the guy who started burning down my city was found to be a member of the "Aryan Cowboys". these instigators then cause more pushback from police which cause more destruction as peaceful protesters are replaced with anarchist rioters. i think there are plenty of american white suburban midwesterners that recognize that this is the case and they aren't buying what trump is peddling, since trump is escalating things
