Just because he isn't a star doesn't mean it's not a big deal. This may lead to other players coming out, possibly a star. The reaction from star NBA players will make it easier too. Collins is also someone whom homosexual youths can look to for strength to be true to themselves. If he can do it, maybe they can too. It matters.
Sure, this won't have the same direct impact that Magic Johnson had via HIV because Collins isn't Magic. But it's still an important roadblock for homosexuals. One of the main foundations has been broken and the ball will start to roll downhill at quickening pace.
