Iraq is worse than Vietnam IMO, in terms of how much influence you lost and how much it impacted the will of the American people to intervene. Also in terms of strategic losses, which Dylan and Indy have done a fine job highlighting.

I do find this hilarious.
Seems that most of us agree that that current 2-party system needs repair (or needs to be disbanded). We all have separate reasons, but we all agree that being made to vote for a Republican or Democrat is a false choice being foisted upon us.
Yet, almost every single one of you, from the OP on down, are saying, "The Republicans are bat-shit crazy. That's why I'm voting Democrat." Even when I point out that you can vote for one or the other, and have it be about the person and not the party, I'm told "You should vote for the party, because the party is the only way to get things done!"
For all of you who feel this way - congratulations. Our current political situation is exactly what you wanted.
