In all seriousness though, the boomer menace is part of the problem, young men are falling behind in education achievement and that's part of the problem but I think these current numbers also reflect something about the blue collar job market currently:
Construction is still trying to recover from the economic crash and we lost lots of manufacturing jobs that just aren't coming back. Meanwhile, a large portion of new jobs being created are service sector.
The industries that aren't creating jobs anymore are ones that have historically been male-dominated while service sector jobs have largely been held by women. A laid off construction worker probably can't walk into even a prole restaurant like Olive Garden and get a job waiting tables. The work culture and skillset are very different.
