Doubtful. ISIS will continue to hit soft targets, and the Hillary Clinton's of the world will continue to act like morons in re: foreign policy, which will continue to exacerbate this cycle of violence.

The only way the cycle stops is when things get so terrible that people all step back and reconsider... And not just Westerners, but people in the ME as well. I fully expect that Europe will swing to the far right, as will the US on this particular issue, and that Middle Easterners will be too stupid to stop supporting political extremism, and it will boil over into a true war of cultures. Hundreds of thousands, potentially millions of Muslims will die, and the only way it will stop is when they give up and widely abandon their beliefs.

You guys are clueless. Europe has already imposed de facto maximum quotas for Muslim immigrants. Several EU members outright refused to take any Muslims, and the governments of France and Germany look likely to be toppled over the issue of Muslim immigration and Islamic extremism.

What you fundamentally miss is that we are dealing with fascists, who take every inch of tolerance and compassion and exploit it to harm innocents. You say "the Neanderthals" won't win but that won't be your tone after a serious attack. The sad reality is it only take a handful of bad ones to really f**k shit up. Isis have taken down a full airplane, shot 140 at a theatre, bombed a political rally killing 100? If all 3 of those had happened in the us, would you still be talking about the horrors of evaluating and screening immigrants from certain countries who hold certain political or religious views?

I don't think you realise these people will continue to attack us at home until we submit or they are crushed. And they will never be crushed absent another boots on the ground war, which should never happen. The only solution I'm afraid to say is quarantine. We change immigration and visa quotas regularly depending on political and economic conditions, and right now rolling Syria and every country bordering it down to a zero quota would improve the security of the American people, with no consequences to the rights or civil liberties of us citizens. It's the stupidly obvious solution and optimal course for a government that should be focused on the welfare of the American people, not the masses in Syria who may or may not want us wiped off the map and replaced by a caliphate.

Truly, you do significantly more harm than good by trying to be soft and fair here. Why has Saudi or Qatar or any of the rich gulf states not taken any immigrants? Why are they starting a war in Yemen and ignoring IS? Why do they offer billions to build mosques in Europe but there is no money for the unhcr. its time we start acting in the national interest and in the interest of American citizens, instead of playing the doogooding fool.
