It may not follow that everyone agrees with the correct definition, but it also may not follow that everyone realizes that 'irregardless' is actually not a real word, but is merely the ignorant and illiterate bastardization of 'regardless.'
This is not decided by a poll. It is decided by the facts and the facts remain.
It is a known fact that the first use of the word "occurs in 1827, when it is applied to the followers of Owen"(Bertrand Russell, A History of Western Philosophy, p.781) Russell is speaking of Robert Owen and his cooperative movement which was based upon voluntary participation.
You do not know the history and you do not know the subject, your wiki-warrior antics aside.
