Yeah, the issue is that the sheriff has opened up the town armory to one half of the bad guys.

Do those who are saying proportionality is an irrelevant concept in warfare even realize that Israel explicitly defends their actions based on those very principles?
Also every country engages in that cost benefit during war. It's why instead of obliterating Afghanistan and everything there we tried to go after just the taliban. It's why Israel tries to just go after hamas instead of turning gaza into a parking lot.
It's obviously applicable in every conflict and almost every country in the world at the very least makes a modest attempt to follow it.
All this "war is war there are no rules" statements show me thst you guys learn more from Michael Bay movies than you do reality. Grow up.
