You may want to reread his post. He didn't suggest that there aren't genetic differences, he said using that information as a means of denying rights to one group but supporting them for another doesn't make sense, and is completely arbitrary.
The point to be made is that species is a weird way of delegating rights, because there are non-human species who are conscious, self-aware, capable of sustaining the narrative of self over time, able to feel pain, able to distinguish between past and present, and able to communicate with each other (and sometimes even with humans). Whereas there are humans who are not capable of those things.
In my mind, killing a chimp or an elephant or animals of that developmental level is equally as immoral as killing a human being, and perhaps more immoral than killing a severely handicapped human.
The only reasons given why I am wrong, thus far, are "God makes us special," or logistical concerns, which don't disprove the ideas but instead question if we should worry about them given our other problems.
