Nonsense. China under Mao is not China under the current political authority. The guy was f**k crazy, which explains his incredibly stupid decision to risk getting nuked in the first place.
There is absolutely no way in HELL they would risk it - not just because of nukes, but because their economy would be utterly destroyed by this decision... not to mention their military, the NK military and quite likely the Three Gorges Dam, putting a massive chunk of their industrial base underwater.
And all for what? A unified Korea they don't want?
