Actually, I'm the left-leaning version of you Saz. I am in almost total agreement that ideology is a crutch for those too weak to deal with nuance. I am still the product of my environment though, which makes me more inclined to sympathize with the left, as a general rule.

Yes certainly capitalism is being scrutinized right now by everybody, even the Pope. Although I'm not sure his was how capitalism was intended to be (in this country at least).

The main reason I'm supportive of unions and the labor movement under our current system is they're the only significant interest group with any clout that would get behind something like Saz's proposal to tie minimum wage to inflation. Yet his first step is to break the unions. I know he wants to institute public financing as well to reshape the power structure but as it currently stands, without the labor movement you never get any movement on those kind of policies.
