They do wish to keep the state Jewish, however that has not translated into them being as strictly religious in the governing of their own country as opposed to any of their Arab neighbors. For instance, in PA countrolled areas, the punishment for drug use is a one year sentence and then death by hanging after you spend a year behind bars. Because Islam.

In some ways they out best our own country. Gays have been able to get legal recognition for cohabiting since 1988 and Israel also recognizes gay marriages performed in other countries. They also already have protection for LGBT persons when it comes to employment opportunities, something this country is still trying to pass. Women can serve in combat roles in the military and even hold high ranking military ranks. Gays, women and immigrant Arabs can serve in the Israeli government.

The major cities are, and yeah, at least they are a pretty liberal democracy.

Of course some of the rural areas are populated by religious extremists as bad or worse than hardcore Muslims. These are the types of people who don't mind bulldozing homes to build illegal settlements, or burning Arab boys to death with gasoline, or raping women for dressing revealingly. But this is a pretty small minority.

I would consider myself a staunch ally of Israel if people like Duchifas shut the f**k up and let the liberal elements of Israeli society take over.

And yet American conservatives splooge themselves at the thought of Israel. So ironic.

But yeah. Israel is way behind on some things and way ahead of American conservatives on many other things. We need to exterminate conservatism in America so we can close that gap.

But at the end of the day a country that defines itself by illiberal ideologies is not one we should be supporting u less there is a damn good strategic reason to do so. There isn't.
