That much is certain. But the stated goal in this case was literally to frame history in such a way as to promote patriotism and free enterprise. To downplay negative aspects of our history and focus on the feel-good side of things. USA! USA! USA! basically.
This is not ok. Our history is every bit as blood splattered and messy as anyone else's, and teaching people about it isn't unpatriotic, or anti-American, or whatever. Its simply the truth. Even the nasty bits about manifest destiny, slavery, and forced sterilizations. We do no favors to kids by giving them a nonsense PG rated version of history.
