I think this issue doesn't have enough social nuance. I feel uncomfortable grabbing my pitchfork and torch when that video was a uniquely big city video. I've lived in mid to large sized towns my entire life, never a city... and I have always lived in communities that recoiled at any kind of flirting with women in public that didn't have a friendship or some other dynamic as a prerequisite.
I'm not saying cat calling doesn't happen in smaller population areas... but as bad as that video makes it look, if it isn't heavily edited, is absolutely a big city phenomenon, and relegated to the streets she was walking on.
Again I'm not saying it's not disgusting... and really dim-witted... and in multiple instances in that video I literally felt irrationally worried for her...
but this isn't a universal problem with the American male population.
