stop conflating wifi with cellular wireless. they are different and besides you can encrypt the data on wired or wireless transactions. the fact that many people don't encrypt their wifi is really not relevant, wifi is small wireless hub, i'm talking wireless to cover the globe

you're stipulating that internet is awful and it's so awful in fact the government needs to do something. i am saying that if the government does, it should be on wireless not wired. but even still, wireless is encroaching on wired speeds of infrastructure already there; tmobile will be at 150mbps in 23 of the most populated cities next year. so now you have competition and the whole monopolitic argument falls to peices. why hand it all over to the government, other than ensuring your continued employment?

Bearing in mind that terabytes and terabits aren't even remotely the same thing, I'll choose the fastest transfer speed every time. If I want wireless, I'll plug an access point into it. I keep wireless around for laptops and tablets. Workhorse PCs are always wired in regardless. Copper is just better than air.
