What happened in the Garner situation is that there was an order from higher up to crack down on stuff like guys selling loosies. That was a stupid order.

Kind of makes you wonder about community policing. If communities are going to demand crackdowns on loosie sales, is it really worth listening to them?

The guy who choked out Garner ought to face a long jail sentence. The other cops involved ought to lose their jobs. Anything less than that is unacceptable. Using force is fine if all other alternatives have been exhausted - something tells me that talking with a guy for twenty minutes doesn't cut it. What was the rush?

The point is thwt you combat the majority of the activity by making it illegal. Then focus your efforts on real crimes. Like I said, there's no reason to physically confront a citizen over something as petty as this. You seem to live in an all or nothing universe where something is either illegal, and partaking in such activity results in stormtroopers justifiably assaulting you, or something is allowed entirely.

That's not reality.
