Tax breaks for the middle class is really not worth discussing considering most get back more than they paid in the first place. It's essentially another form of welfare. As for everything else Obama proposed, they are essentially micro-level proposals and won't make any significant difference in the aggregate. This was just a method of forcing the Republicans to denounce everything he does to make them anti-middle class for the remainder of his term.

On a side note, healthcare is still hilariously screwed, despite how libs and special interests decide to twist the numbers in favor of the ACA. 30+ million without insurance and yet ACA can barely shell out subsidized insurance for 9m. On top of that, healthcare costs haven't really changed. 7 days of paid sick leave going to make a difference? Not really.

Your first point is incorrect also. The tax break currently in place is with respect to capital gains. Hasn't been taxed before.

I think it'd equivalent to step up taxes which I'm a bit more familiar with. I don't know much about personal taxation but I think that's the equivalent.

Why should this income be exempt? Makes no sense to me. It's not special income. It's just income.

And your second point is incorrect. Profit of a company is taxed. They then make distributions to employees, which are taxed as income because it is indeed income for the employee. Just like it was indeed income for the company.
