I don't get it. Did I say something wrong? I'm saying that they are more disadvantaged than just slavery and 200 years can account for.

I tend to side with the Jared Diamond explanation on subsaharan Africa's development. The transfer of knowledge and trade in Eurasia was a vastly interconnected world that existed mostly overland, not through sea routes (the exception being the Medditerranean and to a much lesser extent the Red Sea). The saharan desert and tropical jungles of central Africa were huge obstacles to that were only gradually penetrated.

Indicentally, modern african immigrants to the US are doing much, much better than african-americans, on about any metric. I've already posted a wiki link to some stats about african immigrants to the US somewhere on this forum from wiki, but suffice it to say they're well represented in high paying prestigious jobs and high tier education demographically.
