how many people need to die before it is reasonable in your mind to quarantine people who are at high risk from being infected?
i don't think the state needs to meet a requirement here. the states individually should have authority to do this. it's not indefinite but rather a discrete amount of time so it's not really subject to abuse that quarantining someone forever could (e.g., with aids)
inconveniencing one person for a few days is preferable to infecting more people with a deadly virus. and it is deadly, around 3 in 4 who get it will die
as for the flu causing "25% mortality", jesus f**k christ, about 20% of the population gets the flu, but of those like 200,000 are hospitalized and between 3K and 49K of those die. it's between .004% and .07% of those who get the flu in this country who die. TWENTY FIVE PERCENT?? lol that's AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE worse than the f**k spanish flu, the worse pandemic the world has ever seen http://lmgtfy.com/?q=spanish+flu+mortality+rate
