The position here is an ideological one. A very reasonable argument with data to support it is draped over it. The other side agrees that the argument is a problem, but have a solution that doesn't need to address the core ideological issue.

For the crime of murder when the evidence is 100% guilt with absolutely no doubt. Execution should be mandatory, and within a certain timeline.
The hardest part of doing nothing is knowing when your done.

And and btw, saying "we need perfection!" isn't a solution. It's a goal. These are very different things.
