As for some of the substantive topics discussed here, first safe nation is a very real concept and is applied fairly tightly around the world. Several appeals have turned on some fairly technical questions regarding this. A point of caution on practice even extends as far as existing an airport during a layover in a third country, which can be a technical bar to asylum depending on the court and the facts.

As for "having the technology," this is a little bit naive and shows a total lack of experience in the field. As an example, in one case an applicant needed to verify his persecution was for political purposes to be eligible. We coordinated with some of his family in his home country to have a signed hard copy letter with an affiant's testimony smuggled into a neighboring nation and then mailed. I'm curious what technology ex is envisioning that would vitiate practical realities like this. Or take Syria. Again, technology and cash is great, but if all records have been destroyed in the home country it doesn't get you too far.

The world must seem very neat and tidy to those observing from their computer screens. Alas, it's a bit messier in person.

This accusation is 100% true. All I've done in this thread up to now is make dickish 1-liner comments that even in the most generous reading would be construed as personal attacks on fellow members more than substantive comments regarding the thread topic.

2. Refusing to engage in a defense of my position on the matters being debated here.

This one is not true because it cannot be true. As noted above, up until this point I have literally not contributed anything of substance; not even a brief assertion regarding the debate topic. My only assertions have been that Saz overestimates his superior understanding of all worldly matters, and that you have abandoned your former professional class cosmopolitan shitlib affects in favor of routinely making weirdly bigoted comments about black people and immigrants. The fact that I have not bothered to defend either of these statements is not improper, because they are both self-evident.

As for the topic of the thread, I have this to say. Despite all the media murmuring implying otherwise, these comments from Clinton suggest to me that she does not plan on seeking the Democratic nomination in 2020.
