The Constitution has not failed. It cannot fail. It's just a goddamn piece of paper. What has failed is us... you, me, everyone, politicians, citizens, people who chose wealth over freedom.

March towards fascism after an election where gay marriage and legal marijuana saw sweeping victories?
Liberalism has mostly been synonymous with liberty for the last 40 years. Ron Paul and his 'old school' conservative buddies who hold out on the good ol' days when states dictated what drinking fountain a black man could use make up an ultimately irrelevant voting bloc. The 'Ron Paul Revolution' was a reactionary fart, just like the Tea Party. It's the old guard's last hurrah right before the moderates take back the GOP.
Peace out, girl scout.

Paul is right, there is a lot of open hostility toward libertarian ideals, in today's society. Look at some of the comments on this thread.
I think part of it is a natural backlash because of the recent increase in libertarian visibility brought by campaigns like Ron Paul's. But there is also an ominous side to it as well. There is a large segment of society that has become cynical, perhaps rightfully so, toward the principles this country was purportedly founded upon and as a consequence we are definitely moving to a more insular, closed, even paranoid, society in which the less independent subjects accept a far more intrusive government presence into their lives than previous, more confident, generations would have ever accepted.

He's not the right guy for the message. He doesn't understand the direction the world is heading. Yes we need a government that follows the peoples will, and not a bunch of fat global string pullers. No we do not need to go back to constitutional ideals and archaic isolationist policies.
His heart is in the right place, but his brain is too old.
