Just curious what measure Bob would have had the US implement that would have avoided this tragedy?

If he hadn't used a gun, he likely would have used a knife. Or hammer. Or bat. Or lamp. Or pills. Or anything that can be used to kill another person and one's self.

Is anyone shocked that when the channel is on an NBC station that its telling you how guns are the tools of the devil?
No one is getting their information from an NBC network so they know they have a football head audience to make an attempt at informing. Five million guns a month are being exchanged in this country not because there is roaming hordes of criminal bands (yet), but because the idea that the government cant, and wont protect you. People are rediscovering the only line of defense is yourself and a corporation that pays 0% into the system, has received 100's of billions of stolen production through the violent arm of the government to commit mass murder is there to piss on your leg and call it rain.

Gun Nut here:
The shrill on both sides of this issue hurts by head, although I happen to agree more readily with the shrill of the gun crowd. Most of this moot because SCOTUS has declared you a have a right to handguns (a stance I don't necessarily agree with). You're not going to beat gun culture in this country though, outside of some eastern urban pockets most Americans are pretty liberal when it comes to gun rights.
An idea on a compromise though...why not just bring back the militia? create a state affiliated paramilitary organization that allows citizens to personally own long-arms and provides at least a modicum of supervision. You can then regulate fire-arms outside of the militia context and still stay in line with the constitution.

I had a bigger problem with Costa spending his 90 seconds using the quotes of some relatively unknown writer than generating his own original opinion.

I don't think one second of air time should be given to some asshole who killed his girlfriend and then himself.
