The false choice that morality stems only from religion is the most overplayed card in order to explain all kinds of horrible things. Religion does not have a monopoly on morality.

i am not saying that morality stems exclusively from religion, nor am i saying that religion has a monopoly on morality
but i think it is a significant contributing factor and cannot be dismissed as coincidence

Sorry. I'm derailing my own thread. The morality at work here is altruism and the idea that it is moral for us all to sacrifice ourselves for others. Well guess what, we are, and now the American experiment is screwed.
