I dont think there was malice driving how these events unfolded. There were protests at other embassies such as Cairo that seem to have been linked with the video. An assumption was made, that proved incorrect with fatal circumstances, and that alone makes it important to investigate and understand, so similar errors are not made in the future. The security at the embassy is an important issue to understand. There has been so many stories of what was and wasn't available to defend against the protesters, that needs to be cleared up, and lessons learned from the incident.
I do disagree this was a "Vote for me exercise" Obama has not played up his role in the final confrontation with Osama. Yes he has mentioned it, but I only ever recall that being in the context of direct questions from interviewers. Obama extended an invitation to GWB to come to Washington to make a joint statement that night. Unfortunately GWB decided to continue his silence on political matters and declined.

I did read your post, and it seems to fall into the idea that there was some huge conspiracy on the White House's part to "cover up" what "really" happened because somehow an attack on an embassy halfway across the world would put a chink in the narrative that we're safer under Obama because he killed OBL.
Which is kiiiiiiiiind of a stretch to begin with, considering that I hardly think most Americans think an embassy attack in a place they've never heard of destroys the idea that we're safer now then we were on 9/10.
In other words, you're pitching a conspiracy theory. And the first question anybody must ask when evaluating conspiracy theories is cui bono. Your claim here is that the "benefit" was maintaining an illusion of safety that was allegedly detonated because of... an embassy attack?
Er...
BTW why are you complaining about Obama citing the fact that he killed OBL? He did. Compared to his predecessor, who promised us OBL "dead or alive" and in 8 years failed to deliver. Miserably. Yet that guy used 9/11 up down and sideways to campaign--which is certainly ironic, seeing that 9/11 happened on his watch and not only did he fail to get OBL, he launched two disastrous wars with total incompetence that not only cost us 5,000 American lives but blew a massive hole in our deficit/debt which will take years to recover from. And all the people pimping outrage about Benghazi now? They all supported this shamelessly.
So I'm sure you'll understand why I'm ignoring them.
