well, no, they aren't the same thing.
but nuance this out a little bit. how are they the architects of the financial crisis. housing crisis, maybe. blaming gubmint like this is lazy thinking.

while stripping away regulations is certainly horseshit, and i blame them for that, i hardly consider them the architects of the financial crisis. it's not like the financial industry didn't know what it was doing or what it was getting itself into and were just tricked by the smell of easy money from the feds.
