If it actually works as described in this article, then Fan should get the Nobel price for his work.
However, this is a Foxnews article, and there is a very long way from small scale lab experiments to mass production, so I'm skeptical for now.
Would be fantastic, but lets see if it actually works.

to be fair, it's not like fossil fuels get no subsidies/govt funding atm. for R&D alone

I wonder how the costs work out v. renewables when you consider that coal is still a finite resource.
Good news in the short term if they can make it work though.
