Silly parents get in the way of the children and order them around like little slaves. Do this, do that or no desert for you, No you cant have that are common lines heard in households. Finally, finally, children are going to be able to make a decision on their own with out those pesky parents telling them no.

They should also be free to refuse them despite their parents wishes that they be vaccinated. It's their bodily integrity. Parental rights do not equal ownership over a free individual.

I think the concept of "parental rights" should be reviewed in full. Societal changes such as this will continue to occur regularly.

if you are gonna err, err on the side of freedom.

Complex human beings endowed with the power of existential freedom need to be taught how to use that power before they can properly wield it.

That being said, I do much prefer a law that provides choice (Cali) as opposed to one that removes choice (Texas).

Vaccination is as much a public health concern as a private one.

Its why this anti-vaccination trend is so deeply and profoundly idiotic. Not allowing kids a vaccination (or whatever other healthcare) is sick and wrong.

Good for Cali, and well, the Texas legislation is predictably garbage.

No one was "disallowing" vaccinations. They were saying that a minor had to get parental consent.

Sorry, but until they reach the age of majority, children should not be allowed to enter into legal covenants without parental consent. That includes all medical procedures, and vaccinations.

I'm going to ask my 4 1/2 yo if he'd rather not get his polio vaccine.
