Perhaps this is factions within the GOP attempting to assert control over the public discussion by highlighting central tenets to them via legislation? Good times.

It should also be noted there is only 1 abortion clinic in Mississippi. And it's license is under review because of the aforementioned 2012 law.
One. In the entire state.
Mississippi leads the nation in teenage birth rates.

Yet again, conservatives concentrating on legislating social issues.
I really don't get it. I mean, I understand why abortion is important to them. they think that it's murder, and that murder is bad (which we all agree on - that murder is bad, we don't agree that abortion = murder). But, abortion only affects the mother and the fetus. Put succinctly, the mother will go to hell. Society won't be affected to any large degree. So, it's a personal matter of one's beliefs.
Why do some conservatives care what happens to one person after they die?

Not just conservatives. Why does anyone try to push their beliefs off onto others?
Because it reaffirms someone's beliefs when others share them just as the opposite happens in the face of dissent.
I've always felt that the people who push hardest are the ones most likely to be insecure in their own convictions. They aren't trying to convince others of something as much as themselves.
