I saw this on the huffpo early this afternoon. Yet more evidence that the Republican Party's extremism is rendering it irrelevant. Homophobic bigotry is simply no longer politically viable. He should be ashamed indeed.

He's a Roman Catholic, what did you expect? Although to walk away from a bill you've pretty much championed as a Hispanic-American because it might extend rights to gays is silly. Obama needs to use his position to levy for more gay rights, but sadly I think him coming out in semi-support of gay marriage is all we'll get out of him and I say semi-support because he pretty much said he supports it but deferred to the states on whether or not they wanted to let gays marry or not, which is exactly what DOMA does. So he basically said I support it, but otherwise it's business as usual folks.

I'm Catholic.. Many people I know are.. None have problems with gays.. What the Church says, but what most Catholics do and believe is 2 different things..

Blaming Rubio's bigoted stance on his religion is just your way of trying to excuse Rubio's and the GOP's stupidity towards most social issues..

They want it to be 1955 again.. Ain't gonna happen though.

To me, Rubio being so blatant about this means that most in Washington are expecting SCOTUS to recommend that gay marriage be federally protected. If it is legalized, it doesn't matter what you say as a conservative about gay marriage, and anything you do say right now is just brownie points for later primaries where u can say, "hey I know how you guys feel, I was against it and got bulldozed by the supreme court."
