The process of using cyanide in mining doesn't hurt the environment. Only a breakdown in the process hurts the environment.
Ultimately, if Romania wants to allow this and take advantage of the jobs and money. Great. If not, then they can choose to remain poorer in money and richer in unspoiled wilderness. As with so many things, it's their choice.
