i like it as well. california has too much weight. won't happen though, short of some catastrophe causing it

Good concept, but the wrong way of going about it. Rather, some of the lesser and more useless states should be merged. Why is there not just, "Dakota" for example. Or all those rectangles in the mid west? Make them a bigger rectangle, they don't all need 2 senators.

Upstate NY has been whining and bitching about wanting to break away and become a separate state from downstate NY and NYC for decades. And I mean there's been some serious talk in the past, looong before the current rift and even hatred between red and blue states, and red and blue regions within states.(that's what this splitting Cali. up is about)
Never happened here.. Will never happen in California either.
