I LOVE how measured and realistic and pragmatic he is. If they want bombast and stunts harken back to GWB. He had plenty of that while he was running the country into the ground.

I certainly don't want him to be a cowboy rube like Bush but I have to agree with Dowd. She's usually spot-on and I think she is here.

Mr. Hope and Change has been Mr. "Well..." pretty much since day one. Call me crazy but I get the sense that Obama long ago stopped liking the job and is counting the days until he's done.

Dowd doesn't have much upstairs if all she has to write about is the dog and pony show circling the White House every day. Even if Obama wanted to get off his ass, he'd have to ask 15 CEOs for permission.

Faux constructive criticism is one of the most obnoxious things about the left leaning media

I'd prefer Obama being reasonable and honest instead of making bold, unreasonable and unenforceable claims. The U.S. would look weak if we said things like "The Assad regime will fall" or "Putin will never take Crimea"

My biggest objection to this column is the implication that hitting singles and doubles is worthless. Teams that rely on a cleanup hitter to bail them out every game are flashy and fun and will have some success but they'll run out of steam and lose big games if they can't manufacture a run. I'll take a guy who can hit for average over a slugger who strikes out and pops out 75% of the time.
