The reason that the gov't doesn't act is the gov't is controlled by the 1%, who don't want them to act. That would be socialism dontcha know.

Oh God seriously I have to come up with the economic solution? Really that's not my bag, I could name some things that DON'T work and should be dumped and some things that seem like no-brainers but... it appears with the outsourcing/shipping overseas of so many jobs and technology and etc. etc. we've shrunk the available job pool.

I do know that the course we've set since Reagan has exploded the income disparity in this country to fourth in the WORLD, while bankrupting the middle and lower classes to pay for things like bloated defense budgets because taxes on the wealthiest have been slashed under the myth that they're "job creators" if we give them more money.

We worship Wall St. doing well (like now) when real wages have been stagnant for years and years--if you're not the top 10%.

I'd say make two massive investments to start: one in the crumbling infrastructure of the U.S. and the second in becoming the world's premiere manufacturer/exporter of renewable energy technologies and products than run on renewable energy.

I'd start there.

What upward mobility? See, that's the problem with the whole "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" myth--that it's a level playing field and if you just grind away you'll eventually become rich.

It's not a level playing field. Whether you become rich or not is just dumb luck at this point. Whereas you could be the laziest, most talentless slob alive (think: Kardashians) and because you were born into it, never fall out of it.

You are also asked to shoulder a tax burden that the richest don't, to have your gov't services decimated because they don't need them (austerity!) and you have to live under laws which don't apply to them (see: Wall St.).

It's literally becoming: if you ain't born into it, you ain't never gonna have it.

Somehow I don't think this was what the "American Dream" was all about.

Hmmm boy. Good luck with that if you don't already have the social class or aforementioned birth into it.
