Either way they're screwed. Increasing the minimum wage will simply hasten the arrival of automation. They might as well try for the temporary benefit of a higher minimum wage though, it's not like they have anything to lose.

I love this idea. Can't wait until they are all fired. I'd rather just put my order into a touch screen, much more accurate and less likely they will f**k it up.

As someone who worked fast food for many years when I was younger, I definitely support higher wages. It's a terrible job with little or no pay, long hours, and no benefits.
However, these wages shouldn't be demanded, they should be earned. I worked with some of the hardest working people I have ever met (some of which didn't even speak English and probably stole social security numbers) and they deserved a lot more than what they were given. Simultaneously, I also had the privilege of working with some of the worst people in the world and they don't deserve a damn thing (drug addicts, punk ass high school kids, drop outs, etc). If people want to make a career out of fast food and live terrible lives, they should at least make a reasonable income.

I support a min wage increase, but $15/hr is stupid for that kind of work. It will only do what Saz says it will and hasten automation, which is what most people would prefer it be already. $15/hr is for entry level career spots, ones that take college cred to even get considered for, not a menial, albeit important task, that can be done by actual retards, and one day, a touch screen. There is no advanced skill required besides having a work ethic to be a quality fast food worker. If there were I'd be all for $15. I understand peeps got bills to pay, and that there are hard workers everywhere earning shit paychecks, but their job simply is not one that will ever, ever be worth $15. Put it this way....any job you can get without a resume is not a $15/hr job.

I fully support organized retail and food service workers anyone that works forty hours a week should be able to live like a human being otherwise whats the point?
these unions need to target the practice of only having part time or temporary positions available as well. people are ending up with two inadequate part time jobs

twitter has essentially ruined activism. the second you slap a hashtag on something, even if it's not as dumb as #chipotleswag, you immediately turn your movement into one big punchline.
