Right, but that aside. Person has medical emergency, person goes into hospital, person comes out bankrupt for life.
There's something fundamentally wrong with that. Granted her case is extreme but say it's just me and I'm uninsured and I get in a car accident. You get the idea.
As for the cost thing, what blows my mind is that study that came out somewhat recently that showed the wild disparity in medical care costs in this country depending on where you were. There's no sort of established baseline set where everybody's sort of in the same ballpark.
